A Snapshot of Sri Lanka

In this post, I will be providing images of Sri Lanka, focusing on Colombo, Kandy, Upcountry and some other places in Sri Lanka. I’ll give some text describing each photo or a group of photos. These photos were taken recently in May 2017 when I was in Sri Lanka. I’m trying to capture the diversity and beauty of Sri Lanka giving pictures in both built-up and natural areas that showcase buildings, trees, scenery, bridges, vehicles, houses, rivers, lakes, falls, seas, railways, mountains and rocks. The pictures will be given in the order that they were taken. Let’s begin with images of Colombo.

Here’s a seaside road in Wellawatte at night.

  1. Colombo on foot would have been interesting too. Also next time Try the Ebert Silva Colombo tour. It takes you around the 'Colombo' you have not seen! I like the one with the world Trade Centre and the Cargills bldg. And the lush greenery of the hills. Your journey has only just begun.

  2. Great pictures Asela. I love how lush the countryside looks (and I especially love the waterfalls) and there certainly are some imposing buildings in the cities.

  5. Excellent coverage. I specially like the contrasting picture of the British built Cargills building (in brick-red: a steert in Colombo Fort) still holding its own among the skyscrapers. Cargills was the only SUPERMARKET of old.

I wish you could have covered Jaffna.
